Where to get lunch

• The Refectory on campus has a range of hot and cold dishes and plenty of seating.
• The Students Union is right next to the refectory and hosts a number of takeaway outlets.
• Opposite the campus main entrance on Woodhouse Lane there are several takeaways (such as Bakery 164) and cafes (including the aptly named Opposite).
• There are more cafes and takeaways on Great George Street, which is slightly to the south of campus, on the other side of the hospital.
• The Edit Room next to the School of Mathematics serves coffees and a limited selection of sandwiches and pizzas.

Where to have dinner

• Home (Jia) is Derek Harland's favourite Chinese restaurant
• Thai Edge is a good place to take a large group and close to campus
• Sukothai is a (slightly) more upmarket Thai restaurant
• Whitelocks claims to be the oldest pub in Leeds and serves good food
• Shabab is a good Indian restaurant
• Akbars is a good Indian restaurant where you can order a dish made from sheep's brain (and plenty of more palatable options!)
• Tharavadu is a Michelin-listed Indian restaurant focussing on the Kerala region
